Situated across sculpture, installation and performance, his creations are a research into the spectacle of the machine, often resulting in hypnotic choreographies. He is currently working as a designer at Jason Bruges Studio, and has dreams of turning his sisters shed into a personal workshop so he can continue to make the ideas floating around in his head. Motors whirr productively in the background. Recorded during the exhibition Moving In Stasis, this film depicts the satisfying functionality of the machine ‘The Surfactant Continuum’. With the halls of the gallery void of an audience due to the coronavirus pandemic, the machine is only to be viewed and understood by a representation that is captured and created by the machine itself. A 3-axis camera mounted at the core produces a depiction of seemingly perfect functionality, a satisfying circular system: at least from within the frame of the lens. The functionality of the machine however comes through its representation, dictated by its presentation as spectacle rather than any action it may perform.
